Cantilever Shade Sail Structures

March 4, 2010 / Posted in Design General Projects Shade Sails

Shade sails and shade sail structures have evolved significantly since their initial development in Northern Queensland in the early 1990's. Rather than simply suspending a fabric between a series of posts and fixing points, the creative minds of our industry have bit by bit developed some wonderful solutions to traditionally very difficult problems.

The cantilever shade sail structure is one such solution, and we have recently completed 2 x beautiful cantilever shades that show very nicely what can be achieved when a difficult situation presents itself. Shown first here is a new structure at the Arkaba Hotel in Fullarton, which was conceptualised by head of our design team, Andy Taylor:

And shown here is a simple cantilever structure that we built for a car wash:

The point of this story is simple - consider the myriad of options available to you prior to purchasing a shade sail structure. Often, a solution exists that you may not have contemplated.

Cheers, Tim
